Artist Statement

My work is inspired by the natural world. Travels abroad and within the U.S. are reflected in my paintings of landscapes and florals. Using acrylics, I begin my preparation with various gels to achieve a textured ground on canvas, board, and paper. Pouring on mylar, using various papers dipped inn paint, and incorporating collage produce hidden surprises that move me forward. I love to experiment with different tools, brushstrokes, palettes, techniques to create atmosphere, illuminate sunsets & reflections on water, sunlight on mountain tops, and trees changing with the seasons. My art is a work in progress, a joyful and challenging journey that has opened exciting vistas. As a painter, my lifetime goal is to release my inner spirit, be in the present, develop patience, & create from my heart.
