Kaleeka Bond

Biography

Kaleeka Bond is a Southern California-based artist and educator whose work examines societal behavior, mass media, identity, and the tension between outward appearances and deeper truths. Born in Virginia and raised in Southern California, she earned her BFA with honors in 2006 and MFA in 2008 from Laguna College of Art and Design. For more than two decades, Kaleeka has exhibited her work while teaching drawing and painting at colleges and universities throughout Southern California. Following fourteen years of teaching at California State University, Long Beach, she will join the faculty in Fall 2026 as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Art in the School of Art.
Through her studio practice and teaching, Kaleeka invites viewers and students to look beyond the surface, question dominant narratives, and consider the social forces that shape perception and identity. Her work encourages individualism, critical reflection, and a deeper appreciation of the complexity and diversity of human experience.
