Biography
Mila Ryk is a Chicago-based contemporary artist. She is a third-generation artist born in Ukraine. Since immigrating to the United States in 1991 and settling in Chicago, her life has transformed, leaving her deeply thankful for the freedom to express herself through the art she loves. Working primarily in oil, she developed a unique style she calls "Imaginary Expressionism." Her hands-on process combines the linework of the female figure with bold brushstrokes and vivid colors.
Inspired by Art Nouveau, the amazing beauty of orchids, and the romantic whisper of trees on a quiet, sunny day, she paints a dreaming, imaginary world. Her canvases let nature and imaginary female figures live together in a balanced harmony, using symbolic signs to emphasize feminine beginnings radiating energy and power. Ultimately, her paintings serve as a visual sanctuary where viewers can get lost for a moment, finding deep peace and healing power for the soul.
