Artist Statement
As a high school student, I won multiple awards in Art Contests, including First and Second Prize for two pieces in one competition, as well as Honorable Mention in local art shows. I studied art by making frequent trips down to to the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. My primary influences are the Pop artists of the New York School, i.e., Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, James Rosenquist, Claus Oldenburg and the like. I am also a successful Cameraman, Video Editor with dozens of titles to my credit. I have experience in creating Graphic Art pages for internet sites using Photoshop, and can create 2-D Animations using After Effects. I believe in creating art that speaks to a sensitivity derived from both the world of art history as well as the technical world. Thus, my early paintings combine my fantasies of worlds beyond this one. Later work portrays themes of contemporary life in the urban environment, where art and science collide. I am also an accomplished portrait artist, and the majority of my portraits are of the major musical influencers in my life.
