Council of the Inner Flame 

Artist Statement

This painting reflects autumn as a season of inner reckoning—a time to pause, examine what has already been lived, and recognize the lessons carried from earlier stages of life. Like nature releasing what is no longer needed, the soul must look back with honesty before choosing its next direction.

In Council of the Inner Flame, I explore the idea of Apocrypha as a hidden spiritual language — the sacred knowledge, forgotten stories, and inner truths that exist beyond accepted narratives. The painting becomes a symbolic gathering place, where different realms of consciousness meet: innocence, instinct, memory, protection, transformation, and the quiet wisdom of the soul.

At the center, a young figure holds a glowing heart-like flame, representing the inner light that survives even in times of uncertainty. Around her, animal-human guardians form a silent council. The lamb suggests purity, sacrifice, and compassion; the fox represents intuition and survival; the fish becomes a symbol of the soul in motion; and the wolf carries the presence of protection, loyalty, and ancient knowing.

The cracked earth, distant water, portals, floating lamp, and luminous sphere create a dreamlike world between ruin and revelation. This is a place where hidden truths are not lost, but waiting to be heard. In connection with Apocrypha, the painting reflects what is unspoken, excluded, or concealed — and how these hidden fragments may hold profound spiritual meaning.

Through this work, I invite the viewer to enter an inner sanctuary where symbols speak in silence. Council of the Inner Flame suggests that the deepest wisdom is not always written in visible scripture, but carried within the soul as memory, light, and sacred fire.
