HOLD STILL

Portraiture has long been associated with recognition and permanence. In Hold Still, I approach it as a process of searching rather than defining. These works explore identity as something fluid, unstable, and resistant to fixed representation. Watercolor allows the image to exist in a state of emergence and dissolution, while untouched areas of paper become active spaces that hold uncertainty rather than absence. Each portrait reflects the impossibility of fully knowing another person. What remains are fragments of expression and emotional presence—suggesting that identity is always incomplete, always in the process of becoming.
